mObywatel to Add New Payment Options and More AI Support
Poland's Central Information Technology Centre plans to expand the ePayments module in the mObywatel app and use more AI to turn it into a hub for public services.

Poland's government app mObywatel is set to get more payment options and deeper use of artificial intelligence. Radosław Maćkiewicz, head of the Central Information Technology Centre (COI), outlined the plans at the Forward by Cashless congress in Gdynia.
More payments, clearer for officials
The ePayments module currently lets users settle obligations such as property tax and waste fees. According to Maćkiewicz, users will be able to pay further financial obligations in the coming quarters. He did not detail in the material available which ones.
The expansion is not limited to the citizen-facing side. COI is also working on the administrative part of the project, with the goal of making the module more transparent for the officials who handle payments.
AI and lessons from the private sector
Maćkiewicz said work is under way on using artificial intelligence more intensively within the mObywatel ecosystem. The technology already helps citizens handle official matters. The centre's ambition is to turn the app into a central access point for public services.
To get there, COI draws not only on its own resources but also on the experience of private companies, with a particular focus on the financial sector.
Why it matters
For users, the change means that more of the routine contacts with the state could be handled in one place on a phone. For public administration, a clearer payments back end could simplify day-to-day work. No specific launch dates for the new payment types or AI features were given, only the timeframe of the next few quarters for additional obligations.
