mObywatel Firma: Poland Moves Business Registration Online

From 1 November 2026, first-time entrepreneurs in Poland can only register a business online. The mObywatel app's Firma service lets them file with CEIDG from a phone.

From 1 November 2026, anyone in Poland starting a first sole proprietorship will be able to register it only online. The government points to the mObywatel app and its Firma service as the simplest route.

Through Firma, a future entrepreneur fills in the CEIDG-1 application, signs it electronically and sends it to the Central Register and Information on Business Activity (CEIDG) directly from the app. The form is partly pre-filled with data from state registers, which should speed up the process and reduce errors. Users also enter the business address, choose PKD activity codes, an insurer and the tax office that will handle their returns.

While completing the form, applicants can set up an e-Delivery mailbox with a public provider or add the address of a box they already hold with a commercial provider. After filing, the app sends push notifications about the application: when the company becomes active, when NIP and REGON numbers are assigned, and when the e-Delivery mailbox is activated. The service connects to the CEIDG database every time it launches, so the data shown matches the register.

More than registration

Firma also covers day-to-day tasks. Entrepreneurs can suspend or resume their business and choose the dates, view proxies and commercial proxies (prokurents) listed in CEIDG and remove a selected person or legal entity, which triggers a request to change the register. Certificates from CEIDG can be downloaded as PDFs, and company details such as NIP or REGON can be copied and shared.

Who can use it and what is missing

The service is open to adult Polish citizens with an active trusted profile (profil zaufany) and an mDowód added to the app. Only a first business can be registered this way, and only if no application has been filed in another form, such as on paper.

Other formalities are not part of the service. Registering with ZUS, for yourself or employees, or as a VAT payer must be done at an office or online via biznes.gov.pl. Instructional videos and further details are available on the mObywatel Firma page.
