London-based LO:TECH, a capital markets firm built for round-the-clock and onchain trading, has raised $12 million in a Series A round led by MMC. Existing investors Faction and 13 Books Capital took part, as did Atka.

Founded by Tim Meggs (CEO) and Marcus Horsley (CTO), the company develops trading infrastructure designed to run continuously across venues and asset classes, including traditional financial markets, digital assets and prediction markets. It has also just launched execution services that draw on that cross-market capability, aimed at institutional clients.

Why 24/7 matters

Traditional capital markets work within fixed trading hours, while digital asset markets never close. As more assets move onto blockchain-based platforms, trading firms face rising demand for infrastructure that can operate across both worlds.

"Capital markets were built for a world that opened at 8am and closed at 4.30pm. That's not how risk is traded any more," said Meggs. He argued that the best trading firms grew up on top of traditional market infrastructure, whereas LO:TECH built its own from scratch for markets that run 24/7, onchain and across every asset class.

The round comes as interest in tokenised traditional financial assets grows. According to the company, the wider cryptocurrency market went through a downturn in the first half of 2026, but tokenised real-world assets kept expanding.

Expansion plans

Horsley said fintech and digital asset platforms are moving into territory that once belonged to Wall Street, and that they need trading partners built for how these markets actually work. He sees room for a capital markets firm that grew up in digital assets to compete with the largest names in traditional finance, and believes it can be built in London.

The new funding will support expansion into the US and Asia-Pacific, with plans for a presence in New York and Singapore. LO:TECH also intends to broaden its execution services for institutional clients and to pursue regulatory authorisations in the markets it enters, including exploring licensing options in the US.
