South Korean software company LloydK has been selected to receive a Samsung Electronics patent free of charge, and plans to use it to strengthen its enterprise AI agent services. The company announced on the 5th that it was chosen as the final recipient of the patent titled "Electronic device and task linkage method thereof".

The transfer comes through a technology-sharing program run with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources, under which Samsung Electronics hands patents to small and mid-sized companies without charge to improve their competitiveness. LloydK received the patent assignment certificate on October 19 and expects to finish the administrative procedures for the transfer soon.

How the technology works

The patent covers a way for users to continue work started on one device on another. When an event meeting certain conditions occurs, the system selects a device that can take over, then passes along the working environment and context information of the running application.

The other device does not need the same application. The method can link to an app with similar functions instead. Device resource conditions, including battery level, network connection, memory capacity and processor performance, are also used as criteria for the handover.

Plans for the DO SOLUTION platform

LloydK said it is considering applying the patent to its own enterprise AI search and agent platform and to its enterprise AI transformation (AX) platform, DO SOLUTION 3.0. The goal is for an AI agent to keep the existing work context and support the next task even when a user switches devices or access environments.

CEO Kim Dae-hoon said AI value in the workplace grows when it goes beyond finding information to understanding a user's work context and linking it smoothly to the next task. He said the company will widen the foundation for a continuous AI work experience across devices and work environments, and develop it into an enterprise AI service that raises customer productivity.
