Bleu Robotics raises €5M to teach humanoid robots new tasks
Paris-based Bleu Robotics has closed a €5 million pre-seed round to build software for humanoid robots, led by Contrarian Ventures and Ovni Capital.

Paris-based startup Bleu Robotics announced on 29 October a €5 million pre-seed funding round to develop software for humanoid robots. The round was led by Contrarian Ventures and Ovni Capital, with backing from Kvanted, WEPA Ventures and Motier Ventures.
A software bet on humanoids
The company positions itself on the software layer rather than on robot hardware. Its pitch, reflected in the announcement, is that a humanoid robot can be taught a new gesture from only ten demonstrations, a far lighter process than the lengthy programming or training usually associated with robotic tasks.
The company has not been described here in further technical detail, and the specifics of how its approach works were not part of the information available.
Why it matters
Humanoid robots are drawing growing attention from investors, but making them useful in real settings depends largely on how quickly they can learn new tasks. A method that cuts the number of demonstrations needed could lower deployment costs and widen the situations where such machines are practical.
The round also shows that French investors are willing to back ambitious robotics software at a very early stage. A €5 million pre-seed is sizeable for the stage and gives the Paris team room to build its product and grow its engineering capacity.
Bleu Robotics has not yet detailed customers, partners or a commercial timetable in the information released alongside the funding. Those elements will be the test of whether its learning-by-demonstration approach can move from the lab into industrial or service use.
