Anthropic renames Claude Max 20x to Ultra, drops 5-hour limit
Anthropic has renamed Claude's Max 20x plan to Ultra. It stays at $200 a month, and verified accounts no longer face the 5-hour usage cap.

Anthropic announced on October 30 (US time) that it has renamed Claude's Max 20x consumer plan to Ultra. Existing Max 20x subscribers are moved over automatically at the same price. Ultra costs $200 per month and offers up to 10 times the weekly usage of Pro. Verified accounts are not subject to the 5-hour usage limit.
What changes for verified accounts
Claude's paid plans normally combine a limit that resets every five hours with a weekly limit. On Ultra, verified accounts skip the first one and can keep working at their own pace until they reach the weekly cap.
Verification is automatic. Anthropic uses account and payment history to guard against fraud and abuse, and users have to do nothing. Any temporary restriction applied before verification lifts on its own once the account is verified. Phone-number verification at purchase is a separate process and does not remove the limit. If the "Current session" bar does not appear under "Usage" in settings, the account is already verified.
Limits that remain
Weekly limits still apply on Ultra, including a separate weekly cap for Fable, which Anthropic describes as its top model. Anthropic may also add weekly or monthly limits and model- or feature-specific restrictions to manage capacity and keep usage fair.
The $100 Max plan offers five times Pro's usage, both per five hours and per week, and keeps the five-hour cap. Both Max and Ultra allow Fable for up to half of weekly usage. Each also includes monthly API credits for Claude Platform: $100 for Max and $200 for Ultra. Pro is $20 per month when billed monthly. All prices exclude tax.
Pricing and switching
The $200 price applies to sign-ups on the web; mobile app prices may differ by platform. Billing is monthly only for now. When moving from annual Pro to Ultra, any remaining Pro balance above the Ultra price is applied as credit to future payments, provided the billing address matches. Google Play subscribers are charged the full new price at switch time, and unused time on the old plan extends the usage period, pushing the next renewal a few days past one month.
Ultra also brings early access to new models and features, and includes Claude Code in the same subscription.
