Amazon Adds 100+ Shopping Skills to Alexa Before the Holidays

Amazon has added more than 100 shopping-related capabilities to Alexa ahead of the holiday season. They include list and subscription management, updates to delivery instructions, help with payment problems and answers about Prime memberships.

Users can now ask Alexa to create and register lists, check what is on them, and add or edit items. Subscriptions can also be handled by voice: for example, a user can ask the assistant to switch deliveries of an item from monthly to every three months.

Delivery and account questions

Alexa can also edit delivery instructions, such as changing an address or adding drop-off details. In addition, people can ask about their Prime or Audible subscriptions and raise questions about billing or payment issues.

The update builds on other AI-focused shopping features Amazon has launched this year. These include a shopping assistant and a tool that notifies users about new products and offers.

Growing use of agentic features

Amazon said the number of people using agentic features has grown eightfold since the start of the year. Over the past 12 months, more than 400 million consumers have used Alexa for shopping, according to the company.

For shoppers, the change means routine chores such as adjusting a recurring order or fixing a delivery detail can be done without opening the app or website. That matters most in the busy holiday period, when address changes and payment hiccups are common.

The update shows how Amazon is positioning its AI-powered Alexa as a hands-on shopping and account-management tool rather than just a voice interface for searching and ordering.
