Acer Predator Atlas 8 Handheld Launches November 1 for $1,300
Acer's Intel Arc G3 Extreme handheld goes on sale November 1 at Best Buy for $1,300, after its first round of pre-orders sold out last week.

The Acer Predator Atlas 8 gaming handheld will go on sale on November 1, exclusively at Best Buy, with a price of $1,300. Acer says the first round of pre-orders sold out last week, before the device even reached shelves. Online orders reopen on November 1, the same day it arrives in stores.
First shown at Computex 2026, the Atlas 8 is Acer's answer to the Steam Deck and ASUS ROG Ally. Its main selling point is Intel's new Arc G3 Extreme processor, which Acer is counting on to deliver strong gaming performance without a full-size PC.
Specs and features
The handheld has an 8-inch touchscreen with a 1920 x 1200 resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate and variable refresh rate support. That combination should keep gameplay smooth even when frame rates fluctuate. Power comes from an 80Wh battery, and two cooling fans are meant to manage heat during longer sessions.
Controls include TMR joysticks, which are designed to address joystick drift, and dual-mode triggers. Acer also lists connectivity options that let owners use the Atlas 8 as part of a desk setup with a larger screen.
Because the device runs Windows 11, it isn't tied to a single storefront. Players can use existing PC libraries on platforms such as Steam, and Xbox Game Pass with a compatible subscription.
The price question
At $1,300, the Atlas 8 costs far more than the typical gaming handheld. Running games will not be enough to justify that: it will need to run them noticeably better, without sacrificing battery life or becoming uncomfortably hot in the hands.
Whether the Arc G3 Extreme can meet those expectations will only be clear after independent testing. For now, the sold-out pre-orders point to early interest in the device.
