Moroccan healthtech company ABA Life has signed a $40 million investment agreement with Admaius Capital Partners, a pan-African private equity firm. The deal is subject to customary closing conditions and clearance from Morocco's Competition Council.

ABA Life is the healthcare arm of ABA Technology, which was founded and is chaired by Mohamed Benouda. Launched in 2021, the company develops and operates healthcare solutions that combine artificial intelligence, medical technology, telemedicine, connected healthcare infrastructure and clinical services. It says it has built an integrated and profitable business model, delivering large-scale programmes in partnership with public institutions and foundations to widen access to care.

Three priorities for the new funding

The money will fund a new growth phase built around three priorities. The first is accelerating the "AI for Sovereign Health" programme, including the Mediot AI platform and clinical intelligence solutions. The second is industrialising and deploying the group's healthcare technologies and services at scale. The third is expansion into international markets.

ABA Life says it wants to build a next-generation healthtech platform that blends AI, medical innovation and operational excellence. Its stated ambition is to become one of Morocco's next technology unicorns.

"In five years, we have shown that a profitable healthcare technology model, able to deploy at scale, can be built from Morocco," Benouda said, describing the funding as the start of a phase of acceleration and internationalisation.

Investor view

Selim Ettriqui, Head of Morocco and West Africa at Admaius, said the firm was impressed by an integrated operator combining medical devices, connected infrastructure, care operations and proprietary technology developed in Morocco. Marlon Chigwende, Managing Partner at Admaius, pointed to an ambitious team, a proven business model, strong technology foundations and significant potential to scale.

The transaction cannot close until the Competition Council gives its approval. Once it does, ABA Life will be able to deploy the capital behind its AI and international expansion plans.
