Physical AI startup Tensrai raises Rs 3.4 crore in pre-seed round

Hyderabad-based Tensrai has raised Rs 3.4 crore in pre-seed funding from India Accelerator, Finvolve and Hyderabad Angels to build a retrofittable autonomy platform.

Hyderabad-based physical AI startup Tensrai has raised Rs 3.4 crore (about Rs 34 million) in a pre-seed round, the company said in a press release. Investors include India Accelerator, Finvolve, Hyderabad Angels and other angel investors.

The company plans to use the fresh capital to accelerate technology development, strengthen its engineering and deployment capabilities, and support expansion into domestic and international markets.

A unified autonomy platform

Tensrai is developing a unified, retrofittable autonomy platform aimed at industrial and commercial robots and vehicles. The retrofit approach suggests that existing machines could be upgraded with autonomy capabilities rather than replaced with new hardware, although the company's announcement did not provide further technical detail in the material available.

The startup was co-founded by Sai Nikhil Rao Gona, Venkata Sai Charan Chalamalasetty, Harshith Uppalapati and Vivek Datta.

Why it matters

Physical AI, which brings machine intelligence into robots, vehicles and other real-world equipment, is drawing growing attention from early-stage investors. A platform that can be fitted onto existing equipment could lower the barrier for factories and commercial operators that want automation without overhauling their fleets.

The round is small by global standards, but it gives Tensrai runway to move from development toward deployment. The company has said it will focus on engineering and deployment capacity, as well as entering new markets both in India and abroad.
