Solgram raises over $1 million pre-seed for premium grocery

Gurugram-based Solgram has raised more than $1 million in pre-seed funding led by DSG Consumer Partners and Saama Capital, less than a quarter after launching.

Gurugram-based premium grocery platform Solgram has raised over $1 million in a pre-seed round led by DSG Consumer Partners and Saama Capital. Hospitality entrepreneur Kapil Chopra also took part in the round.

The funding arrives within a quarter of the company's launch, a quick start for a startup in the competitive grocery space. Solgram was founded by Shashank Shekhar Sharma and focuses on the premium end of the grocery market.

How the money will be used

According to a company press release, the fresh capital will go towards expanding its cold-chain infrastructure, strengthening its technology stack, deepening sourcing relationships and scaling operations across the National Capital Region (NCR).

Cold-chain capacity is central to any premium grocery offering, since fresh and temperature-sensitive products depend on it to reach customers in good condition. Investing in sourcing relationships and technology suggests the company wants to tighten quality and supply before widening its reach.

Why it matters

The round shows continued investor interest in consumer-focused businesses that target higher-spending shoppers in Indian metros. With backing from two consumer-oriented investors and a hospitality figure, Solgram gets both capital and sector experience as it expands beyond its first weeks of operation.

The company has not shared further details in the announcement, and the next phase will centre on scaling across the NCR.
