Pine Labs posted a sharp improvement in profitability for the second quarter of FY27. Net profit rose 6.5 times to Rs 38.6 crore, while revenue grew 24% year on year to Rs 806 crore.

The figures show the payments company growing its top line at a healthy pace while converting far more of that revenue into profit than a year earlier. A profit multiple of this size points to a much lower earnings base in the comparable quarter, and to improved operating performance in the latest one.

Cognizant lowers the top of its range

In separate news from the technology services sector, Cognizant has trimmed the upper end of its annual growth guidance for 2026. The adjustment narrows the range of outcomes the company is signalling to investors and clients for the full year.

Why it matters

For India's fintech sector, Pine Labs' numbers are a notable data point: a merchant-focused payments business showing both double-digit revenue growth and a clear move into stronger profit. Investors tracking listed fintech and startup names will likely watch whether the company can sustain this margin trend in coming quarters.

Cognizant's revised outlook, meanwhile, is a reminder that large IT services providers continue to adjust expectations as the year closes. Together, the two updates show contrasting pictures: a fast-growing payments firm gaining profitability, and an established services giant tempering the top end of its growth forecast.
