OpenAI Reverses ChatGPT Pro Quota Cut and Doubles Usage Limits
OpenAI has dropped a planned reduction in usage limits for some ChatGPT Pro subscribers and doubled allowances on several paid tiers after user complaints.

OpenAI has backed away from a plan to cut usage limits for some ChatGPT Pro subscribers. The company says it is instead doubling allowances across several paid tiers, a move aimed at people who rely on its tools for coding and AI-agent work.
According to the company, usage limits are doubled for the Pro tiers priced at $100, $200 and $500, as well as for Business Premium. The planned reduction for some subscribers on the $200 Pro plan will not go ahead. Limits tied to Work and Codex continue under the company's clarifications.
What changed
OpenAI had intended to shrink the allowance included for some Pro users while keeping the subscription price the same. After feedback from subscribers who objected to getting less for the same monthly fee, the company reversed course. It says the new changes are already in effect, though their impact depends on the plan and on the limits a subscriber already had.
The adjustments cover ChatGPT Work and Codex, the company's tools for carrying out tasks and working on software. OpenAI has not published unified figures showing how many tasks or requests each subscriber can now run.
The company also confirmed that the expanded limits for Dots, its agent system that can monitor ongoing work and carry out tasks for the user, remain in place. Dots usage is kept separate from a plan's default usage allowance, so running it is not counted against the shared limits in the same way.
Why it matters
For heavy users, the decision preserves headroom for work that involves repeated sessions and long-running operations. Even so, the announcement does not mean every subscriber receives the same number of tasks, and it does not automatically extend to other subscription plans that the company did not mention in its clarification.
