KFB Technologies Invests 35 Million Zloty in RAFA AI Platform

Polish firm KFB Technologies has put more than 35 million zloty into RAFA, an AI platform that helps companies manage noise, air, water and soil impact.

KFB Technologies, a company specialising in vibroacoustics and environmental solutions, has invested more than 35 million zloty (around PLN 35m) in RAFA, its proprietary AI-based technology platform. RAFA lets businesses manage their impact on the surroundings, including noise, air, water and soil pollution.

The platform combines data, measurement infrastructure, analytics, predictive models and expert knowledge. It is a core element of the company's global strategy to build what it calls Decision Technologies: tools that support decision-making in complex operating environments.

Already deployed at international groups

Since the start of the year, KFB, whose headquarters and R&D centre are near Wroclaw, has rolled RAFA out at more than a dozen international corporations and is preparing to scale the service worldwide. The company works with 250 clients on environmental research, analysis and implementations, and has delivered 2,500 projects for them.

"We built the technological foundation, confirmed RAFA's applications in real-world conditions and started selling," said Filip Baranski, co-founder and CEO of KFB Technologies.

According to the company, existing IoT and Big Data tools collect and process large volumes of information but are not designed as complete data infrastructure for detection and predictive models in a specific operating context. KFB therefore developed its own approach to organising and interpreting data, and is positioning RAFA as Managed Decision Infrastructure. The aim is for the right information to reach the right people while it can still affect an operational, environmental or investment outcome.

Pilots across industry, construction and cities

Commercialisation followed pilots and development projects. In industry, RAFA was used for continuous monitoring of plant impact, compliance support and safety. In construction, projects covered monitoring the effect of works on the surroundings, documenting incidents and communicating with stakeholders. Cities used it to combine spatial and environmental data for infrastructure management and quality of life, and biogas plants used it to monitor environmental phenomena and react faster to problematic situations.

KFB now focuses on commercial scaling, first in Western Europe and Scandinavia, then in further international markets.
