General Compute Raises $100M Series A at $800M Valuation
US startup General Compute has raised $100 million in Series A funding at an $800 million valuation to expand cloud capacity for AI inference on non-Nvidia chips.

General Compute, a US-based startup building cloud infrastructure for artificial intelligence, has raised $100 million in a Series A round that values the company at $800 million. Blackbird Ventures and Abstract Ventures co-led the round, with Fuse Venture Partners and Village Global also participating.
Founded in 2025 by Finn Puklowski and Jason Goodison, the company said it will use the new capital to increase the computing capacity needed to run AI models and to expand its infrastructure.
Focus on inference without Nvidia
General Compute concentrates on inference, the process through which AI models generate responses and carry out instructions. Rather than relying on Nvidia hardware, it builds its cloud on specialized chips from other makers. The company sources processors from SambaNova, Positron and Cerebras.
Its customers are mainly cloud companies that offer fast inference services to AI developers. General Compute supplies them with bare servers that come without pre-installed software. Customers then run their own software stack on the machines and make their AI services available to end users.
Renting space instead of building campuses
The company does not construct large data centers from scratch. Instead, it leases space in facilities operated by other firms, taps smaller power sources and converts former Bitcoin mining sites into locations able to run AI models.
This asset-light approach could let the startup add capacity faster than players that must build their own campuses, at a time when demand for inference computing keeps growing. It also gives AI developers an option beyond Nvidia-based capacity, which matters for teams looking for faster responses or alternative supply.
The company has not detailed how much capacity it plans to add or on what timeline. The Series A proceeds are earmarked for scaling compute and infrastructure.
