Gemini Can Now Create and Edit PDFs Directly in Chat
Google has updated the Gemini app so users can create, preview and edit documents, PDFs, slides and spreadsheets inside a conversation, with no download or re-upload.

Google has rolled out an update to its Gemini AI app that lets users create and edit documents, PDF files, presentations and spreadsheets directly inside the chat. Users no longer need to download a file and upload it again to make changes.
The feature brings creating, previewing and editing a file into a single place. That should save time and effort, especially for people who regularly prepare reports and presentations.
From handwritten notes to a finished PDF
One highlighted use case is turning handwritten notes into an organized PDF. A user can upload photos of their notes to Gemini, ask for them to be converted into a study guide, preview the result in the conversation and make adjustments.
Users can also select specific parts of a document and ask Gemini to reword them, or change text and visual elements. They can ask questions about the content and request further changes without starting over.
Google's pitch is that students, employees and content creators can handle a range of document tasks with AI tools in one interface.
Supported devices and file types
Google confirmed that previewing and editing PDF files works on phones, mobile devices and the web. Working with Google Docs, Sheets and Slides files, as well as Markdown, TXT and code files, is currently limited to the web version.
According to the company, the new features are available to all Gemini users in the regions and languages the app supports. The release continues Google's push to add practical tools to its AI services for everyday tasks.
