French Tech funding: Paul Midy wins €10M amendment for 2027
A committee has adopted Paul Midy's amendment adding €10 million to French Tech credits in the 2027 budget, but the Assembly floor and the Senate still have to vote.

French lawmaker Paul Midy announced on social media that his amendment adding €10 million to French Tech credits has been adopted in committee. Midy, a Renaissance deputy for Essonne, says the top-up would lift the funding line from the €1.8 million in the draft 2027 budget to €11.8 million.
The line covers the Mission French Tech, the actions of its network and the French Tech Tremplin programme, which aims to open innovative entrepreneurship to under-represented profiles. It is only one slice of public support for innovation, which is far larger overall.
A steep decline in the allocation
Midy has opposed the downward path of the allocation: €11.5 million in 2025, €6.8 million in 2026 and €1.8 million in the 2027 draft, a drop of about 84% in two years. The cuts hit local relays. The 2026–2028 labelling covers 19 Capitals and 28 Communities in France, plus 78 Communities abroad. Some already rely on private money: in a 2023 presentation, French Tech Saint-Étienne Lyon said 40% of its budget came from membership fees and 60% from public subsidies.
Other groups have tabled similar proposals. The Socialist group, through Laurent Lhardit, and Pierre Pribetich each propose €5 million. A €5 million amendment from Laurent Croizier of Les Démocrates was declared unsupported on 28 October.
Several hurdles remain
A committee vote does not mean adoption on the floor. For a finance bill, the Assembly's first reading is based on the government's draft, not the committee's amended text, so the measure is not guaranteed to reach the Senate. A precedent suggests resistance: in December 2025 the Senate rejected a €1 million increase for French Tech Tremplin, with the rapporteur asking for a consolidated evaluation of the scheme.
The €10 million would be moved from the "Stratégies économiques" programme to "Développement des entreprises et régulations". The Assembly vote is scheduled for 17 November, and the 70-day parliamentary deadline expires on 17 December. Negotiations between chambers, a possible joint committee and government choices could still change the amount.
Even if the law passes, appropriations are not spending. The release of funds, agreements with beneficiaries and any budget freezes will determine what associations and entrepreneurs can actually use in 2027.
