Disney+ Receives Formal Warning Over Premium Plan 4K and HDR
Consumer advocates in Lower Saxony have issued a formal warning to Disney+ because 4K and HDR have worked only to a limited degree for months. They also demand lower prices.

The Verbraucherzentrale Niedersachsen, a German consumer protection organization, has issued a formal warning (Abmahnung) to Disney+ over its Premium subscription. The group argues that subscribers pay the full price while receiving less than the plan promises.
Limited 4K and HDR
According to the consumer advocates, HDR and 4K have worked at best in a restricted way on Disney+ for months. Those features are the main selling point of the more expensive Premium tier, which is aimed at viewers with compatible televisions who want the best possible picture quality.
Beyond the warning, the organization is calling on the company to lower its prices. The reasoning is straightforward: if a plan is sold at a premium because of its image quality, customers should be able to rely on that quality being delivered.
What a formal warning means
In Germany, an Abmahnung is a legal step that asks a company to stop a practice it is accused of and, typically, to sign a declaration committing to that. It is often the first stage before consumer groups consider court action. The available information does not say how Disney+ has responded or what deadline it has been given.
Why it matters
The case touches a question that affects many streaming customers: whether advertised technical features, such as 4K and HDR, are reliably available on every device and in every situation. For subscribers of the Premium plan, the outcome could determine whether they get price reductions or a clearer description of what the plan includes. Disney+ has not yet been reported to have settled the matter.
