Disney+ will launch an ad-supported subscription plan in South Korea on November 10, priced at 7,000 won a month. That puts it level with Netflix's ad tier and the combined Tving and Wavve ad bundle, which are also 7,000 won.

The Disney+ ad plan offers 1080p (Full HD) video and up to two simultaneous streams. Subscribers can add one more user for an extra 4,000 won a month. The ad-free Standard plan has the same resolution and stream limit, but allows downloads on up to 10 devices. Premium adds 4K UHD and HDR, four simultaneous streams and downloads on 10 devices.

Disney+ raises existing prices

Alongside the new tier, Disney+ is increasing its current prices from November 10. Standard rises from 9,900 won to 11,500 won a month, and Premium goes from 13,900 won to 16,500 won.

How rivals compare

Netflix's Standard with ads costs 7,000 won and supports Full HD, two simultaneous streams and downloads on two devices. Ad-free Standard is 13,500 won with the same specifications, while Premium at 17,000 won offers 4K UHD, HDR, four streams and six download devices.

Tving and Wavve sell a joint ad-supported pass for 7,000 won a month. On Tving it provides high-definition video and up to four simultaneous streams, and on Wavve Full HD with up to two. Standalone, Tving's ad plan costs 5,500 won, with its cheapest ad-free plan at 9,500 won. Wavve's ad plan is also 5,500 won, and its lowest ad-free plan is 7,900 won.

Coupang Play takes a different route: it is included for Coupang Wow members and also runs a separate free, ad-supported service.

For viewers, the ad tiers are the cheapest way into the major platforms, trading advertising for a lower monthly bill. With the main services now clustered at the same 7,000 won price, differences in content, stream limits and download options are likely to matter more in choosing between them.
