Daksham Capital has raised Rs 125 crore in the first close of its Rs 300 crore fund, giving the investment firm a solid base to begin writing cheques to early-stage companies.

The fund will invest in startups at the pre-Series A and Series A stages. Cheque sizes will range from Rs 5 crore to Rs 20 crore, placing it in the zone where founders typically move from early traction to building scalable businesses.

Where the money will go

Daksham Capital has outlined a consumer-focused mandate. The fund will target D2C brands, consumer enablers, B2B2C businesses, supply chains and consumer AI. The mix points to an interest both in brands that sell directly to shoppers and in the infrastructure and technology that support them.

A first close means the fund has secured an initial tranche of commitments and can start investing, while fundraising continues toward the full Rs 300 crore target. Roughly 42 percent of that target has been committed at this stage.

Why it matters

For consumer founders in India, dedicated early-stage capital at the pre-Series A and Series A stages remains an important bridge between seed funding and larger growth rounds. A cheque range of Rs 5 crore to Rs 20 crore covers a wide span of that journey.

The inclusion of consumer AI and supply chains alongside D2C also signals that the fund is looking beyond brands alone, towards the enabling layers of the consumer economy. Further details on the remaining close and the first portfolio investments have not yet been shared.
