Beget Restores 35% of Servers After Cyberattack Wiped Cloud Data
Russian hosting provider Beget has brought 35% of its servers back online after a cyberattack. Cloud data was lost, but file backups survived.

Russian hosting provider Beget said on 4 November 2026 that 35% of its servers are running again following a cyberattack that disrupted its services earlier this week. Work on the remaining machines continues, and because each server is checked by hand, websites are coming back gradually.
Where recovery stands
Dedicated servers that Beget does not administer are all up and available. Dedicated servers managed by the company are further behind, with 15% restored so far. Domains are working, and customers whose domains use Beget's DNS servers can manage their records at domains.beget.ru.
The company is also rebuilding its backup infrastructure and says it will publish instructions for obtaining copies in a separate post. The control panel is not yet back. Beget says its priorities are servers, websites and backup restoration, and it will announce the panel's return separately.
What happened
Beget said the incident began overnight between 1 and 2 November 2026. Attackers gained access to the control layer of the whole architecture and then ran scripts that wiped data. The company has formally declared force majeure.
In the cloud infrastructure, covering VPS, S3 and Kubernetes, all data was lost. CDN and IP settings were also lost. File backups for VPS survived, but binary VPS backups were lost completely. File backups of the entire hosting and cloud infrastructure are intact, so data can still be restored from them.
Why it matters
The case shows how damaging a compromise of a provider's management layer can be: a single point of access allowed the destruction of data across several product lines at once. For customers, the practical outlook depends on file-level backups and on how quickly each server can be verified and relaunched.
Beget says all staff are working in crisis mode, and its DevOps team is on a round-the-clock schedule until the incident is resolved. The company has not given a date for full recovery.
