Beget Rebuilds Cloud Infrastructure From Scratch After Cyberattack
Russian hosting provider Beget says a cyberattack on the night of 1–2 November almost wiped out its cloud infrastructure, and it is now rebuilding from zero.

Russian hosting provider Beget says a cyberattack on its network on the night of 1–2 November left its cloud infrastructure practically destroyed. The company is now rebuilding it from scratch.
"We are building the cloud infrastructure anew. We have already restored the architecture and management services, and we plan to connect the first servers within one to two days, then move on to integration and testing," the company said. Access to surviving backups will be provided in the control panel.
Not all customer data can be recovered
Beget warned that it will not be possible to restore all data from customers' virtual servers (VPS). According to preliminary estimates, file backups will be available for only about half of clients, and even those restorations will take time.
Hosting servers will also take a long while to bring back. More than 60% of hosting is already running again, but the remaining servers suffered more heavily. "Our goal is to ensure full restoration of projects from backups, and we are working steadily toward it," the provider said.
Part of the data in Beget's internal system was lost as well. For some users, the current links between accounts and services disappeared, and the company is reassembling them.
What comes next
Beget is now configuring integration between hosting and backup servers to launch mass restoration. To do that, it is changing the network configuration today, after which it will reopen access to the control panel. Billing, secondary services and non-critical functions will return later.
Work on launching the backup infrastructure continues, and the company plans to begin restoring from backups on the first servers as early as tomorrow.
For site owners and VPS customers, the message is that recovery will be partial and gradual, and that data without a surviving backup may not come back.
