UBTech Launches Embodied AI Simulation Platform in China

UBTech has launched an embodied AI simulation platform as China pushes deeper into robotics, with more than 70 robot training centers now opened nationwide.

Chinese robotics company UBTech has launched a simulation platform for embodied AI, adding a software tool to a field that has so far been defined largely by hardware demonstrations.

Embodied AI refers to artificial intelligence that controls a physical body, such as a humanoid robot, and learns by interacting with its environment. Simulation platforms are widely used in this area because they let developers test and train robot behavior in virtual settings before machines are deployed in the real world.

A national push

The launch comes as China builds out infrastructure for the sector. More than 70 robot training centers have now been opened as part of the country's push into embodied AI. These facilities give developers places to collect data and train robots under practical conditions, which complements what can be done in software.

Together, physical training sites and virtual platforms point to a two-track approach: simulation for scale and speed, and real-world centers for validation and data gathering.

What to watch

Details on the platform's features, pricing, availability and customers were not part of the information available at the time of writing. How widely the tool is adopted by developers and manufacturers will show whether it can become a standard part of China's robotics workflow.
