Google Cloud and Nammu21 Put $1.945B Loan Facility on Blockchain

Google Cloud and Nammu21 are testing AI-powered smart contracts on GCUL to run a $1.945 billion loan facility on blockchain. The pilot aims to automate the transfer, approval and repayment steps of a syndicated loan.
What is being tested
Syndicated loans, in which several lenders share a single facility, typically involve many parties and a lot of manual coordination. The test targets three parts of that process: transferring loan positions between participants, approving transactions, and handling repayments.
By encoding these steps in smart contracts and adding AI to the workflow, the two companies want to show that a large, complex credit facility can be administered with less manual handling on a shared ledger.
Why it matters
Loan markets are a prominent candidate for tokenization and on-chain automation because of their size and administrative burden. A facility of nearly $2 billion is a substantial test case, well beyond a small proof of concept in scale.
The involvement of Google Cloud also signals that major cloud providers want a role in financial-market infrastructure built on distributed ledgers, not just in hosting traditional banking systems.
The companies have not detailed further results in the information available so far. How the pilot performs, and whether it moves into live production use, will determine whether the approach can scale across the syndicated lending market.
